If I tell you I can't do anything to make your shit come on before the service ready date, I CAN'T MAKE YOUR SHIT COME ON BEFORE THE SERVICE READY DATE. I have no control over that, tech support does not handle any kind of installations, provisioning, or anything else involved with the network. We get your shit connected from your end and that's it. And no I can't send a technician to your house today. Once a ticket is submitted, IT'S OUT OF MY FUCKING HANDS. CAN YOU UNDERSTAND THAT OR DO I NEED TO BREAK IT DOWN FOR YOU? WELL HERE GOES...

I'M A PEON. SOME IDIOT WHO GETS PAID BARELY ENOUGH TO MAKE RENT. I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER HOW VERIZON DOES BUSINESS OR WHAT PROCESSES THEY USE. TAKE THAT SHIT UP WITH CORPORATE, NOT ME. AND DON'T ASK ME FOR COPORATES INFORMATION CUZ GUESS WHAT? I DON'T EVEN HAVE IT. AND NO I CAN'T TRANSFER YOU TO SPECIFIC PERSON, ESPECIALLY IF THEY AREN'T IN THE SAME BUILDING AS ME.

-People who comment on my previous relationship: Everytime one of you says something like "I can't believe you went out with her" or "I don't know what you saw in her" or "You can do better", I just want to punch you in the face. Can't believe I went out with her? Yeah, she sucked, but you got someone else for me? No? Shut the fuck up then. I can do better? Well apparently not if I was already that low. Don't know what I saw in her? Well, I often meet women that are far more interesting, stable, and cool to be around. Guess what? They're either taken, hideous, or hardcore dykes. So go fuck yourselves with all that.

I got no game anyway, so fuck it...don't think too much about it.

-Rent going up to $700 in September: WTF?!?!? They know it's hard enough for me to make rent as it is, and they're jacking it up? FUCK YOU SIR. I mean, if I had a decent job, it wouldn't be so bad, but goddamn. If they wanted me to leave, they could just ask, fuck.

I might as well rent a house with a buddy or two for that kind of money.

hmm...what else can I bitch about...oh yeah

-People who don't return phone calls: I'm busy. You're busy. No problem. We're all adults and have our own shit to take care of right? But if I call you, leave a message, whatever, you could at least have the courtesy to call back. Whether it's to actually talk to me, or just to say fuck off, I don't care.

Anyway...there's my emo rant for the month.

CRAWLING IN MY SKIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More UTD stuff

yup...

Had fun last weekend. But in a good way. Bearclaw and Brian had another party at their loft. Pretty good turnout, decent music...can't top the Pimp's and Ho's party though. That one was bangin. Too many hot ladies at that party, and the music was crazy good.

Anyway, it was good to see Alan, Traci, and Amanda out. Had a Hoegaarden over at Pete's too.
If ya ain't hurd, Hoegaarden is greatest beer ever. Taste like beer lemonade, not too sweet though. It's exspensive, $5-6 a bottle at bar, and I haven't found it for sale anywhere. Supposedly Central Market carries it, but I haven't gone to check it out. Maybe next pay day.

another UTD one

Fuzzy Kuga-P vs. Ghost Captain Crunk. It's pretty badass. Unlike those cheap plastic toys, this is actually made out of metal(or some kind of...super plastic, I forgot) and has a neon light tube in it. Pretty fuckin cool. I want the Darth Vader one though.

Last weekend, Kevin went to Vegas right? According to him, Vegas is full of hot women. Lots of them. Everywhere. In the casino, on the street, at the restaurant, in the desert...Apparently they must be cloning those bitches underneath the Vellagio. So he goes to this strip club and sees some girl who, according to him, is "The Hottest Woman In the World".

But...it's a strip cub...they're supposed to be that way. I guess he was surprised by the fact that the women who were going to get naked for him were actually attractive, I dunno.

However, I warned him that this shit whould just build crazy meter...which it did. This all of course leads us into talking about our problems with Da Ladies. Kevin wants to get in on some action, but he's looking for a quality girlfriend...nothing wrong with that, good for him.

But I think he's going into it all bright eyed and bushy tailed...way too fucking optimistic.

That or I'm just bitter and jaded. After my last two relationships, I've kinda given up on the whole thing. The shit never works out for me in one way or the other, so I'm just going with the -I don't give a shit/man whore- approach. Not that it's really working out for me or anything, but I'm tired of the other bullshit.

Whatever...It doesn't matter really, I've got too much other shit to worry about anyway.

Analyze, Dissect, Detect, Process

Radioactive Materials Lab at UTD

So about week or two ago, me and kevin were playin Metal Gear Solid 4: The UTD Invasion.

Sounds really cool, but all we did was walkin around the buildings in the middle of the night and take pictures and some video. We were supposed to meet up for lunch with some friend of hers...who works in the same building we do. So there we are...hiding in the parking lot.

So I'm doing tech support for Verizon DSL now. If there's only one thing I've learned from working here it's that 99% of people in this country should not be allowed to own a computer. When some one goes to Best Buy and decides they want ths biggest, baddest, most complicated PC with a shitload of extra features they really don't need, they should be given a test. You know, basic stuff like "Find the Ctrl key" or "What is internet explorer?" If you can't answer basic questions like this, you don't need a computer. And you damn sure shouldn't be messing around with wireless routers and shit like that...

Got plastered at Minc again last night. not as bad as last week though, I actually made it home without incident...didn't grab any asses either. I like my S410, but it just can't get alot of the shots I want. Can't really afford a new camera right now, but I have seen a few good deals on ebay. I'm thinking about getting a Nikon D70; Joe over at Joe's NYC swears by it, and I love his work. I actually got to toy with one first hand last Friday, and I really like it. Well then I ask you this.....What's so funny about peace, love, and understanding? The instant someone espouses these sentiments, they are labeled "hippy", "naive", "out of touch with the world", etc. Absolute peace is a pipe dream to be sure. Humans, despite all of our technology and culture, never truly shed the tribal state of mind. We've only disguised it. Politics, social cliques, labeling, foreign policy, sports teams - nothing more than tribalism. Social interactions on the level of just two individuals, all the way up to national delegates are all impacted by this basic trait. It's human nature I suppose, but I know others have notice this. That's what we have sociologists for. Knowing this, why are those who wish change shunned and demonized? One could say it's another form of tribalism, seperating those who would seek to end the conflict instead of joining it. Or is it the fear of facing the reality of who we are as humans? No one living in this "modern" society wants to admit that, we really have not changed at all since men lived in caves and grass huts.

Actually...I don't how factual that is, about the caves and huts...but you get what I mean...I hope. Anyway...on to the World's Fair stuff -

The international stage was rapidly changing in the 1960s. As the empires of old Europe were finally in their death throes, the era of post-colonialism shed light on those who had long been oppressed. The United States and the Soviet Union, former allies of World War 2, had begun their great races, the Space and Arms respectively. Berlin built it's wall, a sort of physical representation of the "Iron Curtian" the Eastern bloc nations had erected around themselves. Having found(though some could argue "stole", but that's another matter) a home for their people, the Jews of Israel found themselves in another conflict as the Six Day War raged on. China's infrastructure was in chaos from Mao's Cultural Revolution, an act that would change the politics of that country forever.

With the world slipping again into turmoil, many looked to the future with the hope that we could learn from the lessons of the past and create a better global society. A world community, if you will.To achieve this goal, people would have to learn that, despite our collective differences, we all had a part in creating this new future. In other words, make peace through understanding.

The message of global unity and innovation was the shining point of the 60s World's Fairs. The 1962 Seattle World's Fair - also known as The Century 21 Expo - presented a future world that looked like something out of a Lost In Space episode. Cities would be covered by huge climate controlled domes, commuters would fly in personal gyrocopters and on rocket belts, solar power would be our primary energy source. Homes would be designed to incorprate as many automated "convenience" devices as one could imagine, though I'd hate to see what would happen when the electric sink malfunctions. While we are slowly realizing some of these future predictions(though not quite on the scale they imagined back then), economic and enviromental limitations have not allowed for technology to reach the state it COULD be at. Developments of the alternative energy sources proposed for these projects has been stifled by the industry's resistance to change. For instance, switching to solar power would require a complete infrastructure change, as well as being less profitable. Anyone with enough knowledge can potentially setup their own solar power array, thus elimintating the need for an ouside provider.

And.............I've run out of stuff to talk about for Century 21. I'll talk about the 1964-65 New York World's fair next time. I know more about that one.

What ever happened to Peace Through Understanding?

Someone once told me I don't have enough pictures of myself...so here I am. Portrait of a fool...

Perhaps some of you(all two of you that read this blog) may recognize the reference in my post title - "Peace Through Understanding" was the official slogan of the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair held in what is now known as Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Not surprisingly, that was also the site of the 1939-1940 New York World's Fair. In fact the whole area was originally a landfill that was redeveloped into one of New York City's largest and most scenic parks. Fuck Central...for realz.

Getting to my point...The World's Fair's have always been a showcase of cutting edge technology and cultures from all over world with a healthy dose of education and corporate commercialism. The Expos(as they are sometimes called, also where the Canadian baseball team got their name) are generally used to present a glimpse of the world around us as well as the world to come, provided by the future innovations of the corporate sponsors who finance the Fairs in exchange for plots on which to build their own exhibition pavilions. While I generally frown on commercialism and marketing, the Fairs can really only operate with the corporate sponsorship, as each one basically requires large amounts ofland to be redeveloped and a small city constructed at the site. Typically, the corporate pavilions are done in good taste as well. You get the impression that they genuinely wish to bring about a better tomorrow, even if the dollar is still the bottom line.

Along with the corporate buildings, the participating nations from all over the world build there own pavilions as museums of their culture and people. In some of the more ambitous designs, there have been attempts to recreate famous landmarks, traditional structures, or even a small town(in the case of Belgium)of their native land. Within the national pavilions (as well as State pavilions for US fairs) you can find treasures, artifacts, and works of art that reflect the identity of the presenters. World's Fairs have played host to everything from Michaelangelo's "Pieta" to a 4000 year old engraved Turkish monolith. Truly a gathering of the world populous, even the UN got it's start at the 1939-1940 New York World's Fair.

Which I guess brings me to my point....What ever happned to Peace Through Understanding? That was a phrase uttered back in a time when the world was slowly shrinking, in a national sense and from a cosmic view as well. The Space Race was in full swing, the Cold War had begun, WWII and Korea were still recent memories in the eyes of many, and the Civil Rights movement was at it's peak. The attitude behind such a lofty ideal was surely a kind of backlash to the turmoil which was gripping not only our nation but the whole world. The Fair's gave us a very optimistic view of the future, where cars flew, food was plentiful for everyone, clean utopian cityscapes sprawled across the globe, even under the sea. But these are goals that can never be achieved. For one, the engineers at the time didn't put to the mind the enviromental impact an under-sea city would have on the ocean, nor did they consider the ozone layer or species extinction when they designed that rainforest bulldozer thing (GM's Futurama exhibit).

Another hinderance to the World of Tomorrow is the very real politics and economics of today...But I'll talk more about that later...

A Japanese chick gives you the EVIL EYE! Since it's the last one for awhile, I guess they decided to go all out and had a 6 turntable DJ assault (pun not intended) inculding Kevin's girly, Princess Cut. I dunno if I've mentioned her before or if you can tell from this picture, but P-Cut is Japanese. VERY Japanese. By that, I mean she has a pretty thick accent (though her english is good), she dresses like a Japanese teenager would I guess (not that she's a teenager, but that's the impression I get), and...uh...I dunno, she's just obviously not from the US. Nothing wrong with that.

So anyway, while one of the poets is up spinnin his yarn, she was just kinda chillin at the DJ booth/table, sitting down on the stage. I'm kickin it with Kevin, who was video taping the show, at one of the tables, half paying attention to the poet, half paying attention to her (she's cute, STFU)....

Suddenly the guy on the mic (think his name was Brian) mentions something about the bomb dropped on Nagasaki being called Fat Man, and how his anger was (about something, I kinda lost him at that point) was similar.

Now....lemme tell ya. As soon as he said that, the first thought in my mind was "Damn, that was kinda uncalled for. Does he know P-cut is here? She might not like that". Not to be PC or anything, I just know that's still a kinda sore subject with some Japanese people....

Anyway, I figured I'd look over at P-Cut and see if she had any reaction to that and well....

OH

MY

GOD

Not more than half a second after I glanced over did I see the meanest, most evil, vile look of hate and anger. P-Cute went from cute japanese chick to fuckin WEREWOLF-DEMONBEAST WOMAN! You could seriously see the flames in her eyes! It was like the rage of all the people killed in Nagasaki had welled up into this little japanese woman and their thirst for vengance would not be quenched until absoulutley every single last gaijin in the room was dead.

Ever see The Ring Zero? remember at the end when Good Sadako merges with Evil Sadako and they turn into like...SUPER SADAKO and she's Poplockin through the woods and shit and gouging people eyes out...yeah something like that.

To make things worse, this dude didn't stop with just the Nagaski reference, he started talkin about mushroom clouds and shit and i swear each word that came out of his mouth was just making her Hulk up even more. I think she finally powered down 10 minutes after the guy was finished with his spiel but GOD DAMN... NEVER PISS OFF JAPANESE WOMEN.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://fugyocouch.blogspot.com/2005/04/japanese-chick-gives-you-evil-eye.html' title='A Japanese chick gives you the EVIL EYE! Why the hell is Eric camera shy?

So I've learned a few things while hanging out at Sapphire Room:

-Remember to lock the door to the bathroom, cuz people will just barge in and start pissin if you don't
-If you see someone who's gender you're unsure of, it's probably a dood
-Amy is hardcore. She knows how to break into old abandoned buildings.
-JustMike probably has the largest collection of music I've ever personally seen.
-Erotic City is the greatest Prince song ever. Don't deny it, you know it's true.
-Those $3 dollar you-call-its will catch up to you real quick.
-Ladies love the Cotton Pickin dance on the break down in Outkast's "Rosa Parks".

Yeah, so Sapphire Room is pretty chill. I like going up there cuz Mike always plays some funky hits and there's always some cool peeps to hang out with. The drinks are strong as hell too, bonus points on that.

eh....I don't have much else to say right now...

Eh.....

Got stood up today. I'm getting used to that sort of thing, but it still kinda burns a bit. Reminds me of why I stopped talking to women in the first place.

So ladies (not that any read this site, but who cares, STFU) here's a few guidelines for ya:

1. Do not approach me in a club/bar if you see me dancing and have no interest in actualy talking to me or getting to know me. I'm not your entertainment for your "Girls Night Out" and I'm not being paid to dance for you or with you.

2. Do not speak to me simply because you want some attention and the only other person on the dance floor is the gay best friend/intellectual whore you brought with you.

3. Do not give me you're phone number if you don't plan on answering your phone. Do not answer your phone, make plans with me, and then flake out.

4. Stop telling me I look like Usher (I look nothing like him and I hear this at least twice a week, 4 times if I'm lucky) unless that is followed by "Let's fuck", "Can I buy you a drink?" or something along those lines.

5. Stop telling me I'm a good dancer. I know you're lame ass boyfriend/gay buddy/emotional whore couldn't dance his way out of a wet paper bag, but unless you're actually interested in me, don't waste my time.

...yeah, so there's my EMO rant for the day.

All that having been said, I did manage to get a few interesting pictures while I was waiting for nothing.

Celestial Park FINAL ATTACK

That's it for Celestial Park. I had fun taking these pictures and I think they came out pretty well, but it's time to move on to something else. I'm thinking about a series ofpictures on the DART rail or maybe just in downtown Dallas. I dunno. Until then, I'll probably just put up some party pics or something.

I don't have as much time to take pics now that I've started my new job. I still need a tripod as well. Wal-mart sells some cheapo ones for around $20. A good price, but there's probably a reason they're so low, but it's about all I can afford really. John over at Orbit1.com says they aren't TOO bad if you don't try to extend the legs to far. We'll see I guess.

Celestial Park VII

Side angle shot of NE steps.

Tomorrow will probably be the last of the Celestial Park pictures. Since I don't have a tripod, the frame is somewhat inconsistent between the shots. Oh well, more incentive to save up some cash. On top of getting a new tripod, I'd like to get a digital SLR to add to my miniscule camera collection. Kevin pointed me towards a Pentax *istD, which retails for around $700. Based on the reviews of the camera, it's the best you can get for the money. I don't know much about Pentax (I'm a Canon fan) but I'm willing to try anything. It's just a matter of saving up.

Celestial Park V

Lamp and trees near the NE entrance to the park.

It's late, I'm tired, and don't really have anything to say about this picture. I'm pretty happy with how most of them came out, so I'll posting the best ones over the next few days.

Celestial Park is one of North Dallas' hidden gems. It's located in the middle of an upper class neighborhood near the tollway, so most people will either never see or hear about it. The park has a dais at the southwest and northeast corners. The SW dais, being the larger of the two, has 4 sets of stairs leading to the top. Engraved on the base of the steps are quotes from famous poets, philosophers, and writers. At the top is a low brick and sandstone wall, in the center is a type of human sundial. The NE looks tiny when viewed from inside the park, but closer inspection reveals that it is only a bit smaller. The hidden incline it sits on gives this illusion.

This picture was taken from the top of the NE dais. In the distance, you can see the SW hill as well.

Mavs man is kinda creepy...

I went to a basketball game with my dad on Monday. I'm not really into sports, so I try to avoid these. Usually my mom goes with him but she wasn't feeling to good and, true to form, she calls and asks if I would go to the game if my dad asks me. That's Mom Code for "I'm going to tell your father to ask you and you'd better say yes."

Don't get me wrong, I like spending time with my parents, I just don't like sports. With that said, I had a good time.

A few years back, a new arena was built for the Dallas Mavricks to replace the aging Reunion Arena. The American Airlines Center is a state of the art facility with all kinds of neat crap in it. I swear it turned into a giant disco when the Mavs came out for the intro. Mirrorballs dropped from the ceiling, strobes were going off, girls in short-shorts were dancing. I thought I was at Bronco Bowl for a minute. The corridors of the building have a very movie theater/hotel feel with the carpeting and mood lighting. But I think the most surprsing aspect of the arena was how clean it was. It looked like it could have opened just yesterday. No sticky floors, no dust or dirt, everything in working order. Now if only Dallas can get the rest of the city like that.

P.S. - This picture is smaller than the others because it exceeds the file size limits on Photobucket.com. For the time being it will have to do.

Recently, I've been checking out photography sites like Orbit1.com and Myopic.us. The shots these guys take are amazing, particularly the night shots. My own skills (or lack there of) with a camera are extremely limited by comparison, but I hope to be half as good as them someday. I've notice that traditional film cameras capture shots better than my digital camera ever will. I really can't afford to step up to a professional digi-cam ($1100-$3000 range), my little S410 will have to do for now. I do have an old Canon AE-1 35mm, but it's in bad shape. I can't afford repairs on it right now, nor can afford to get film developed. I'm thinking of stepping up to a newer model anyway. After reading a few posts from Orbit1, and checking a few other sites, I think I'd like to try a Canon EOS A2. They're fairly cheap and abundant. Of course, this all depends on wheter or not it's cheaper to just fix the AE-1.

A few changes

In an effort to keep things streamlined and efficient, I'm reducing the number of post that are visible on the front page. That phrase brings to my mind images of pretentious college students from the suburbs who think they have the world figured out, but are too weak to do anything about it but right bad poetry and scream it at the top of their lungs. I blame that on three things:

1. Myself for being judgemental and slightly prejudice.
2. What's portrayed in the media.
3. Those who live up to this stereotype.

Anyway, Kevin has been into this stuff for awhile and had been trying to get me to go. I wasn't too keen on the idea for the above mentioned reasons, but I figured I'd be a good friend and at least go check it out once or twice. Man, I was in for a surprise.

The group that organizes most of these poetry slams is called The Underground Poetry Circus. These cats are probably some of the coolest peeps I've ever met. To call it a smattering of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and poetic stylings would be an understatment. I've only been to 3 of their events but I've heard poems about everything from racism, the war, and the effects of rape to being trapped in a Eckerds with an old fatman.

In other words, they'll make you think and make you laugh all in one night. And there's free pizza...and live DJs.

Last Thursday, the UPC played host to the Women's Appreciation night at UTD's Pub. And while I must say there was a bit of man-hate in the room, it didn't bother me too much cuz sometimes we deserve it ;) . The night was full of laughs as Geno gave us his punk rock rendition of "I'm a little teapot" and later model a fashion bag to give away to the ladies. We were also lucky enough to have Andrea Gibson show up and give us what might of been one of the best shows ever. Andrea is on the 2nd place ranked National poetry slam team and has one a few individual competitions herself. Lemme tell ya, she earned every single on of those wins. On top of the fact that she's fuckin hilarious, she has incredible flow and timing. She can go from being dead serious and angry to side splitting before you can blink. Kevin bought both of her CD's and her book, she was that good. CHECK HER OUT!!

So yeah, I'm kinda diggin the poetry slam thing now...

Cheap as Free Monday's Strike Back

So it's Monday again. I'm still broke but looking for fun. Hmm...cheap fun on a Monday night? Sounds like Main Event needs to get bum-rushed again. And for this excursion, we've got Ryan Kim along as well. We all pile into Ryan Kim's 4Runner and head on over to the spot. On the way, Kevin explains his plan for free gaming, but Ryan Kim doesn't think it will work, so he buys a card when we get there

Too bad son, cuz Kevin managed to score big this week. $50 worth of cards! FOR FREE! Well, he did have to pay one guy 2 bucks, but he got 4 cards for it. That's 50 cents a card, not bad. Kevin felt bad that Ryan Kim paid for a card, so we divided them up so we'd have 2 each. Now, normally we'd attack the Guitar Freaks machine right away, but there was a more important matter at hand.

WE MUST BEAT "KING OF ROUTE 66"

King of Route 66 is the abysmal sequel to the equally horrid 18 Wheeler Pro Trucker Racing that Sega released several years ago. The premise of the game is that you're a big-rig driver that must deliver his or her (there's one female character) cargo to different checkpoints across the country, while beating the rival "evil truck drivers". I'll just let that soak in for a second...

Stopped laughing yet? Anyway, "66" has something that resembles a plot. It invovles some old man named Noisy Duck (who looks alot like George Bush) constantly being harrased by the Tornados (the aformentioned evil truck drivers, who look like rejects from the set of some shity biker movie). So to avenge Mr. Duck, you've got to beat the Tornados to all of their cargo destinations, while delivering you're own. I don't know what the point of this is, since beating them doesn't change any of the cut scenes and only gives you a few extra points. To top it all off, there's a CB radio system built into the game. Sometimes other truckers will ask you questions, and if you answer them correctly they will join you in a "Convoy Combo" which somehow raises your truck's maximum speed. Whatever. You also use the radio to get your Nitro boost (nitro in a truck?). You're supposed to yell "NITRO!" into the radio, but me and Kevin discovered that Negro works better. As dumb as this game sounds, it's incredibly addictive. We usually wait til the end of the night to play it however, so right when we're going to beat it, the damn games shut off.

Not this time.

We make it a point to play "66" first so we can finally beat the damn thing. Kevin gets on the wheel, and I'm on the radio (i can say Negro better than he can). He manages to get to the last stage on one credit, but then the bullshit starts. It's basically impossible to the pass the last stage if you fuck-up even once or if have less than 3 Nitros. So...about 6 credits and much cussing later, we finally beat that damn game.

And that...is pretty much all we did last night.

Click Click 3

More pics. The first is a standard color shot, secod in B&W, third is a color shot with the white balance from the previous shoot. B&W shot from an angle. Color shot from the same angle. Two closeup shots of the car number and rail line plate. B&W and color shots of the car's side ladder. A few shots of the water fountain from the previous shoot. This bush looked liked it had exploded from the inside. I used to ride train to work back when I lived near it. Every morning when I would walk to the station I would see this tiny kitten playing around in the parking lot or on the sidewalk. Two years later, it's still there, but now it's HUGE. I'm not sure if it's a stray or if his owner lives in the apartments over there. It was playing around in this bush like it was looking for something. I managed to catch it sitting still long enough to get this picture. Here are some shots of a sculpture that stands in front of the Community Credit Union building in central Plano. I had taken a few in color as well, but I didn't like the way they turned out. I felt that B&W captured the look of the sculpture and the building better than color ever could. As before, I'm just screwing around with different settings on my camera, so they won't be very good or anything. I was trying to get some night/low light shots so I could practice keeping the camera steady. But like an idiot, I forgot to charge the battery, so I only got a few that I liked. These were taken at Legacy Park near the Angelika Theater, which you can see in the first shot. I used the white balance setting that I had taken off the side of the rail car in the wide shot in my previous post. At night, it produced an even bluer effect than the Tungsten filter, and I thought it looked nice. I also set the ISO Speed to 400 (similar to using 400 speed film in a manual camera). Here's one from the side of my bed, with the same settings. I thought the light coming through the windows looked nice, and I wanted to try an indoor shot. Here's my bathroom sink. ISO Speed is set for auto, White balance is normal. Exposure is +2. I liked how the frame seemed over saturated with white, but with the small silver pieces. Reminded me of laboratory a sterilization room...or something like that.

Super-Tang = the new hotness

So, Kevin tells me he has this super energy drink that he uses to stay awake at work. I figured it'd be something like Red Bull or Rockstar, maybe even Crunk Juice. Anyone who's had one of these knows how nasty they are and that they typically don't even work, so I just kinda brush it off. But Kevin insists it's the real deal. He says he ordered it from some website, and it's in a powdered form.

Powdered Energy Drink? OK, so now I know it's gonna taste like ass. Why the hell would anyone drink this crap from a powder? The liquid ones are bad enough. Kevin kansu'd that defense though.

"It's tastes kinda citrus-y."
"So what, it's like...Super-Tang?"
"Yeah, something like that."

SUPER-TANG. So, Kevin continues to explain the wonders of this Super-Tang to me, finally deciding that I must try it myself. Friday rolls around, and Kevin says he's bringing the mix over, along with the vinyl we ordered from Japan (I honestly don't think I'll ever listen to the Sugizo records. They're in mint condition, never been played, and are made from CLEAR VINYL). Brian also comes over for some Halo action, so we figure let's get him in on this. Kevin says he put too much in my cup, but I don't care, I figure this stuff can't be that bad.

HOW WRONG I WAS. I'd only drank a quarter of the cup when I just started bouncing off the walls. Seriously, it was like when Bugs Bunny drinks that shit with the bubbles and fireworks shooting out of it. I'm laughing my ass off for no reason, screaming at the other players on X-box live, running around the room cuz I can't sit still, you name it. The fact that I didn't eat much probably didn't help. Anyway, I'm spinning around the room like the Tasmanian Devil, Kevin is laughing his ass off and Brian is....just sitting there. BLAH. It was fun, but unfortunately, that crap got me so hyped up, I couldn't sleep. I think I got in bed once, slept for an hour, then woke up like I'd never been tired.

In conclusion: Super-Tang = Captain Crunk Approved

Click Click

Here's some pics. It's basically a glorified bowling alley, but they do have a pretty big arcade with a few music and rhythm games. I'm a sucker for music games, so I go to this place alot. On Monday nights, they have a special "all you can play for $10" deal going. 10 bucks for all the Guitar Freaks I can play? Twist my arm, please. But as I mentioned before, I'm broke, so $10 for video games isn't exactly an option. That doesn't stop my buddy Kevin (also a music game aficonado) though. Much like myself, Kevin doesn't like paying for shit if he doesn't have to. So we devise a plan that goes something like this:

1. Main Event closes at 12:00
2. They have a teen curfew that starts at 10. Anyone under 18 has to get the fuck out afterwards.
3. The free play cards work all night
4. We can bumrush the people leaving at 10 and get their cards.

So, I bet you're wondering if this plan works? Well.... $30 worth of free cards sucka! So what do we do with 3 free play cards? Why, load up very machine within a 100 foot radius with free credits of course! But first, there's Guitar Freaks that needs some playin. After about 50,000 rounds of GF, it's time to practice our Gaijin Smash skills on the Gaijin Smash Trainer (if you don't know what Gaijin Smash is, please read this http://outpostnine.com/editorials/teacher16.html credit goes to Azrael for inventing the G. Smash) This is the G.Smash machine. Ok, so really it just one of those old carnival hammer games and has nothing to do with the actual Gaijin Smash technique, but this is what we call it, so STFU. Recoil in horror as Kevin demonstrates --->
Having impressed her with his smashing skills, Kevin contemplates hollerin at the girl in the green shirt There's also a bunch of those crane games that have all the worst prizes, like fake gold watches and Nick Carter cd's. Our favorite is Monster Crane, simply because of it's ridiculous mascot. Kevin is gonna scissor him one of these days ----> Yeah, that's pretty much all we did last night. Well, we did play some 3rd Strike and Tekken 5. Even with it's sizable roster, impressive graphics for a PS2 game, combo system and character customization, you know the one thing that makes Tekken 5 great? This ---> This is Asuka Kazama's extra costume. It costs a half million game points. AND IT'S WORTH EVERY ONE OF THEM. OK, here I am drooling over video game girls...

Saturday night in the Captain's clothes...

I'm broke. Really broke. I think I have 3 dollars in my pocket, and that will probably be gone by the end of the night. But since I'm bored, I had to get out of the house last night. What can I do that's cheap? Well, it just so happens that Crave was hosting some Birthday parties and there were free shots of Tuaca on the hour, every hour. Free Shots you say???
Free alcohol is enough to motivate anyone to get out of the house, naturally I have to go check it out. There's sure to be some people I know hanging out there anyway. Here, Idris demonstrates his Poot Slap technique:
And now, here are dark and blurry pictures that I took. I hate flashes, so sue me:

I spit hot fire from the Tiki Torch

Only thing I don't like about Crave is that it's kinda cramped and hard to dance in, especially when there's a bunch drunk people and they're spilling drinks everywhere. So I went across the street to The Pharmacy, where I took more dark blurry pictures.

Both Crave and the Pharmacy are at the corner of Malcolm X and Elm in Deep Ellum. And every night, Thursday - Saturday, that intersection looks like this :

And it's like this ALL NIGHT. I think some of the cars just loop around, just to make sure everybody sees the new dubs or hears the crappy stereo. Oh and there's bikes too. Lots of bikes. And they're all ridden by hardcore squids. No gear, No helmets, some half naked girl on the back. Maybe I'm just mad cuz I don't have a bike anymore. BLAH, more pics of the traffic:

It was around 12:30 when I took these. You'd think when I left at 2:30am, that it'd have cleared up right? NOPE ALL DAMN NIGHT. I mean, at this point, traffic lights are about as effective as hanging a string of christmas lights across the street. Yeah they light up, but no one is paying attention. And don't bother trying to cross the street either, they get 500 points for hitting you.

Life is boring right now...

So I have no job and I don't go to school (both being two things I should be doing). Naturally, I have a lot of free time. Under normal circumstances, lots of free time would be great. I mean, who doesn't want more time to do nothing or anything? But it gets old, real fast. Especially when you have no money. But that's not a problem if you just head on over to Fry's Electronics. They have so much free crap to do, it's a wonder anyone actually buys anything from there. Check it out -

Who needs to pay for video games? You can play for free at Fry's! And if that isn't enough, you can just sitdown and watch a movie. There's even coffee!

Soooooooooooo, when you're bored and have nothing to do, head to Fry's. Whatever...

I went to Baltimore about 2 weeks ago to visit my bestest buddies, Karla and Travis.

Travis is a sculpture major at Maryland Institute College of Art, aka MICA. He makes cool stuff in his studio, like angry heads and big steel cubes. I think he's been there for about 3 years now and seems to be having a blast. He also teaches a poppin/breakin/b-boy class on Sundays. Gotta learn some of those "whitebreads" how to shake it, ya know? ;) Anyway, he's doing pretty good for himself . But he needs to incorporate more metal epoxy into his work.

Karla graduated from UNT last year as a Jazz major (...I think, sorry buddy!). She sings at this swanky restaurant/lounge in Baltimore's Little Italy district, but that's only on Thrusdays. Normally, she works at this coffee shop near the Ravens Stadium. It's a cool little shop, but the owner is a dick.
Karla and her trio also occasionaly perform at the Marriot in downtown B-more, SO GO SEE HER! EDIT: the name of the italian resturant Karla sings at is Della Notte

Baltimore is a cool town. Unlike Dallas, it doesn't give off the impression of being fake and plastic. For instance, lots of people walk. And not just for excercise, I mean they walk where they need to go. You can't really do that here, because everything is concentrated in "high traffic areas". So if you need groceries, but don't live at a major intersection, you're driving. In B-more, there's a Mom and Pop shop or non-major corporate grocery store within walking distance from wherever you are. And if you don't want to walk, the public transportation actually goes all over the city. What a concept! Living accomadations also seemed less manufactured. Baltimore is full of row houses and town homes, most of which date back to the 20s and 30s. So instead of the prefab apartment and housing complex look of Dallas, there's actually some character to the town. Something like this:
Very similar to the older parts of Chicago, with the brick houses and all. The downtown area is not too far from here, and you could walk there if you wanted. Not in this cold ass weather though. There's also lots of old churches, synagouges, and temples spread around the area that give Baltimore a semi-gothic feel (not like vampires, bad poetry, and black black black gothic, I mean like old Europe). On the other side of town is the famous John Hopkins Medical University. A beautiful campus, but I didn't get any pictures of it as we were always driving past it to pick up Takako. She's a psychology major at Notre Dame Women's University (or something like that). Takako likes hip-hop, dancing, and is way cooler than you.
Oh yeah, that's Teddy in the picture with Takako. Teddy also goes to MICA (3d graphics) and is from Texas. Well, that's where I met him anyway. He teaches the dance class with Travis. Teddy is definitely one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, just don't let him drink too much. He builds meter fast as hell and will be doing headspins on top of the pool tables before you know it. You can see what he's up to over at http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=obct

Cookin with radiator fluid

Eclipse overheated yesterday. It has given us such Iconic characters as Dolemite, Shaft, Truck Turner, Cleopatra Jones, and The Hamburger Pimp. And how can you not like a movie called BOSS NIGGER? Pure genius, I tell you! Even Nichelle Nichols, better know for her role as Lt. Uhura on the original Star Trek Series, had to get in on the act. So how come they don't make these anymore? Well, for one, all the old stars are just that, OLD. It's been 30 years since alot of those films were made and, IMO, there aren't any worthy sucessors to these mantles(with the exception of Samuel L. Jackson). Some would also argue that these movies made light of the inner city situation and glorfied black stereotypes (pimps, HOs, drug dealers), but damn if they aren't funny as hell. C'mon, Dolemite the street pimp literally has an army of Kung Fu Bitches? Truck Turner ices a pimp named GATOR? Black Mama, White Mama?! BOSS NIGGER(White man's town, BLACK MAN's LAW)?!?!?! YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M SAYIN SON?!?!

Cymbals

I can't stop listening to them. Who knew Shibuya-kei could be so addicting? It's just so damn...happy. If you got high and listened to this shit, you'd be instantly transported to some kind of weird 60s dream land with crazy singing flowers and dancing trees or somethin. It's like that scene in Willy Wonka where they go into the candy forest room and there's a river of choclate and oompaloompas all over the place. Take that X10000, add some guitars and crazy drum rolls.

Whatever...I like it.

I just wish some American bands could be like this. It was a piece of shit when I got it, and it's an even bigger piece of shit now. I was plannin on fixin it up, but so far all I've done is gotten some JDM tailights, a short shifter, a broken bumper and bumper support, smashed corner lamp, three shredded tires, and the carpet ripped out. Yeah...I'm doing pretty good.

So awhile back, my ex and I decide we're gonna try to rattle can it, panda style. We got a sander, some rattle cans, and went to town on it. Well, we never finished sanding the damn thing, so it was missing paint on like half the car. Rain + Exsposed metal = rust, and that fuckin POS has enough rust on it as it is. Fuck Final Fantasy...for realz. Every game in that series (except Tactics) has gotten progressively worse since FF7. Like, 7 was the high point, but everything afterwards has been downhill. FF8? sucked. FF9? wasn't even interested enough to play it. FF10? while definitetly an step in the right direction, it was far too easy, and the voice acting was mediocre at best. Auron was pretty fuckin cool though. FF-10-2? why the hell are the mini-games more important than the game itself? And sorry, I already played Everquest and I'm currently playing City of Heros. FF11 is out of the question.

Kingdom Hearts is the biggest breath of fresh air that company has had since Bushido Blade and Final Fantasy Tactics. While FFT didn't exactly bring anything new to turn based strategy type RPGs, it was fun as hell to play and had a decent story. Bushido Blade gave a pretty cool take on weapon based fighting games. Some peeps complain about the injury and death system, but if two people are waving swords and axes around at each other, how long do you think the fight is
gonna last? With KH, you at least get a Zeldaish game that takes classic Disney movies and turns them on their ear. You get to beat the crap out of Disney and Squaresoft characters, how can it not be fun? Yeah, the levels feel a little boxed in sometimes, but the gameplay is still pretty solid and they are expanding all the old worlds and adding new ones for KH2, so STFU.

ALL YOU CAN EAT SON

fukkin High Point Bar got the tuesday night all you can eat chicken buffet. man, I'm talkin fried chicken, corn on the cob, biscuits, gravy, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, salad, little cake things, and baked beans. that shit is top tier, but damn the service was lousy. waitress walked past our table like 6 times before she took our drink order, and then we had to wait like 15 minutes for the check. Today is September 11th, so I guess I should say something about it. Well, while it was a big tragedy that we are still feeling the effects of, the US needs to grow up and move the fuck on. Shit like that happens everyday in other countries with far greater casualties and lasting impacts, but they don't go pissing and moaning about it to the rest of the world. Either that, or they do plead for help, but we conveniently ignore them(coughcoughsudancoughcoughsierraleonecough) because their countries contain no natural resources that we can't obtain through whoever the local dictator/tribal warlord/rebel leader is.

I don't mean to sound uncaring, but I'm tired of the constant circle jerking over 9-11. Any sadness or horror I once felt over it has been lost ever since the event became a political tool. That's not the victims or their families fault, but poke someone with s stick enough times, eventually they get tired of it.

GET A JOB FOO

Getting layed off kicks ass for the first 3 weeks or so.
